Preserving Nintendo's History
Dragon Ball - Origins 2 (USA) (Debug)
- - togemet2

Prototype of Dragon Ball: Origins 2 by Bandai Namco. This build contains a debug menu which can be accessed directly from the titlescreen. The “TOWER” option brings the player to a minigame where they must scale to the top of a giant tower and avoid any obstacles in the way. “SIDE BT” appears to be an animation test. Similarly, “SP EV” seems to be for testing cutscenes. It also includes the ability to check cutscenes for each region of the game. Last but not least, there’s the “STAGE” option, which is a simple stage select.

Dragon Ball - Origins 2 (Japan) (Demo)
- - togemet2

This is (what appears to be) a store demo of Dragon Ball: Origins 2 by Bandai Namco. The title screen would appear to suggest that, however, a sticker on the top of the cartridge reads “Localization B-Line”. It is possible that the data was overwritten with a store or tradeshow demo at some point in it’s life.

Nintendo Power GB Memory Cartridge (Seminar 98) (Prototype)
- - togemet2

This is an early prototype Nintendo Power GB Memory Cartridge. The label on the front of the cartridge indicates that this was used at some sort of seminar during 1998.

It predates the final release by two years and is notable for containing an early menu with different music, and even a completely cut track. The cartridge also contains the following games, although please take note that these are of course the same as the final revisions: Tetris, Yakuman, Tennis, Dr. Mario, GB Wars, and Yoshi’s Cookie.

World Port (Unlicensed)
- - togemet2

This is a copy of the “World Port” software for the Game Boy Color. It’s an unlicensed peripheral made by Code Junkies, the same people that make Action Replay devices. It’s essentially a modem for your GB/GBC and can be used to do stuff such as send emails, use a calculator, and more.

In addition to the unmodified dump, a hacked version created by ZestyDev is also included. This hack removes the need to register the cartridge. To bypass the registration, fill the entire bar with anything until it’s full.

Satellaview 8M (Picross/SatellaQ/Machi Magazine)
- - togemet2

Finding content that dates back to around the first few months of the Satellaview service is truly surprising since this is a system where it is pretty much encouraged to download new content over old ones, therefore statistically there was more chance to find content from around the end than the beginning.

Finding undumped content entirely is also getting rarer, as the Tamori no Picross one is actually new and seems to be between two of them that were dumped in terms of date.

Satella-Q is also really cool to find, as it is quite uncommon to know that it was originally an offline quiz game where you answer questions and then you send a password in postal letter to St. GIGA to win prizes. There was also a real time soundlink quiz show that was called Waiwai de Q, and has Toad as the main protagonist, eventually the show would be renamed to Satella-Q later on.

The third one is Machi Magazine, which could be translated as “Town Magazine”. This is not a brand new dump but it is 100% functional compared to the other one where we couldn’t be sure of the data’s integrity, but it contains BS-X town lore, specifically it says around the first 138 rumors among 2000 about the town itself, where the first ones talks about how to restore the town’s stolen name and culprit by gathering rumors. Apparently it is filled with fun references and puns.

Unfortunately, according to people who have played the Satellaview firsthand, the BS-X lore had suddenly rebooted at one point, and none of them have ever reached a point where you could solve the stolen town name and culprit. It is truly a mystery that it is kept to this day.

Thanks to our patrons for helping us secure this one!

Looney Tunes Collector - Martian Alert! (Europe) (Prototype)
- - togemet2

This is a prototype of Looney Tunes Collector: Martian Alert! by Infogrames. The back of the cartridge indicates a date of 28/10/99, whilst the final build of the game released in mid 2000. Some differences that could be noted are as follows: Differences within the publisher logo screens, the language option screen is much less detailed, various text differences, and a completely different titlescreen. The Looney Tunes logo animation also appears right on boot in the prototype, rather than after the language select menu in the final.
